Why did you want to volunteer with Cloth Nappy Library Ireland?
I discovered cloth nappies when I was expecting my first baby and looking for a more sustainable, affordable option. After seeing the amount of waste disposable nappies created, borrowing a kit from a cloth nappy library was a real turning point for our family. It completely changed how we parented—and I knew I wanted to help others have the same experience.
Volunteering with CNLI since my second baby was born has been incredibly rewarding. I love sharing my passion, being part of a supportive community, and contributing to something that truly makes a difference. It gives me a real sense of purpose and joy.
What does your volunteer role involve?
I started as a postal volunteer, preparing and sending loan kits to families and helping them understand what’s included so they can confidently choose what works best for them. I later became Secretary, and I’ve now been Chairperson for two years.
My role involves supporting our volunteers, applying for funding, organising events, and hosting online workshops. CNLI fits perfectly around family life—everything is flexible, supportive, and built on teamwork.
What would you say to someone thinking of volunteering?
Go for it. Volunteering is incredibly rewarding, you learn so much, and being part of something you truly care about makes all the difference. The work we do at CNLI is genuinely valued, and that makes it so worthwhile.
